Princeton Wedding – Alissa and Eric

Weddings and Families

Erica and Alissa met through mutual friends while the two were studying at Princeton University.

And, as a couple who met, got engaged, and had engagement portraits taken at Princeton, it only made sense for them to say “I do” there as well.

The bride and groom got ready at the Stone Hill Church of Princeton. One thing I love about the “getting ready” photoshoot is it’s always some place different. It’s a unique and creative challenge finding interesting locations to photograph the bride’s details.

Another thing is how happy and excited everyone is, especially the bride’s mother! While some couples choose to do a first look before the ceremony, these two opted to go the more traditional route and wait to see each other the moment the sanctuary doors opened and Alissa stepped through. One look at Eric’s face and you knew he was about to marry his best friend and the love of his life.  After the ceremony, of course, it started to rain! We eventually managed to run outside and grab some bridal party shots in a dry lull, but we also got some great formal portraits inside the church.

Despite the weather, Eric and Alissa were laid back, happy, and ready to improvise—a must for any couple on their wedding day!Their reception took place at Nassau Inn in Princeton, New Jersey, just a block away from the school. The event was naturally completed with equally heartfelt and funny speeches from friends and loved ones, beautiful decor and DIY florals, and an epic dance floor. With their group dances, nonstop laughter, and excitement, this group nailed the candid shots! During all the craziness of the reception, we did manage to grab them for some quick portraits in and around the grounds.

Tip for Couples: Have a white or clear umbrella handy in case the weather turns rainy. Not only will it keep you dry, but it might just turn into a memorable element in your portraits.

The newly married couple describes their personalities and interests as goofy, nerdy, and funny, and I think that really shines through in their wedding photography.
