Very few things bring me as much joy as when past clients ask me to shoot another milestone in their lives. For some, this is a wedding and then a newborn shoot. For Elizabeth and Jose, they first contacted me last year to photograph their daughter’s quinceañera. And we all hit it off, so when they decided to tie the knot, they gave me a call. What an honor!
Jose proposed February 2016 when Elizabeth had just gotten home from work. When she walked in the door, Jose told her he and the kids were playing Scrabble, boys against girls, and that it was her turn. In her own words, Elizabeth took her “sweet time,” washing her hands, putting lotion on, etc. Jose kept asking her to hurry up because they needed her answer to see who’d win. When she got to the table, she saw “Lisa, will you marry me” spelled out on the board (Lisa is Jose’s nickname for her). Elizabeth cried, laughed, and of course, said yes.
Elizabeth and Jose are big fans of Sayen Gardens in Hamilton, New Jersey. It’s even where they met! The grounds are beautiful and have so many different areas to shoot. When I arrived, they’d already picked out a beautiful spot near a fountain to be their ceremony site. Surrounded by their kids, maid of honor, and best man, Elizabeth and Jose said: “I do.”
It was a short ceremony officiated by Father Pozo, after which we took some family portraits and portraits of the bride and groom and their family!
Elizabeth and Jose’s wedding is proof that it’s not the size of a wedding that makes it magical, it’s the love of the couple and the guests they ask to be by their sides.
Can’t wait to shoot more of your family’s events in the future!
